Kolb's Farm

Description

Built around 1836 by Peter Valentine Kolb, this log house is the only standing and surviving structure here that dates to the time of the war. It sustained some light damage when the fighting was waged around the farm on June 22, 1864. This action saw John Bell Hood's Confederates attacking Joseph Hooker's Federals on an important flank. Around the events, General Hooker may have used the Kolb House as his headquarters. It underwent many changes and modifications following the war but has since been restored to its historic appearance.
