Description

Positioned along the "Sunken Road" in the Hornet's Nest, the monument to the 1st Minnesota Light Artillery pays tribute to the unit's actions on April 6, 1862. As the Southerners advanced, these men in the Army of the Tennessee's Sixth Division (Prentiss') assisted in repelling a number of attacks before retiring back to protect Pittsburg Landing along Grant's Last Line.
