Pennsylvania Pride
Description
The State Color of the 123rd Pennsylvania Infantry. Composed of men from Allegheny county, the 123rd was a nine-month unit formed in August 1862 and led by Colonel John B. Clark. The regiment received the State Color on October 15, 1862. Sergeant Samuel Caldwell carried the color throughout the Battle of Fredericksburg and scorched bullet holes are visible. The 123rd was mustered out of service on May 13, 1863.
