An Unknown Soldier

In the 1930s, the remains of an unknown soldier were found in the trenches on Cheatham Hill. A reburial service was later held to honor his service. He was moved to rest right along today's walking trail that passes the surviving remains of earthwork defenses. The major fighting for this ground located northwest of Atlanta was waged on June 27, 1864.
