Flowering Fire

During the evening before the battle on September 16, a small but sharp skirmishing engagement took place in the East Woods between elements of Hood's Confederates and advanced Pennsylvania Reserves of General Truman Seymour's Brigade. Silence into the rainy night was broken by gunfire.
