Autumn Ascent

Long before the outbreak of the American Civil War, the town of Harpers Ferry had a rich history. From Robert Harper's ferry service operation in the mid-1700s to the founding of the United States Armory and Arsenal in 1799, a wave of increasing industrial and economic growth took hold here. Many of the town's original structures that either served as private residences, government offices, or military supply buildings, still stand in the Lower Town and completely accent this unique Park.
