Mississippi State Monument

Nearly 6,000 Mississippians fought in the battle. Placed here in 2015, this is the newest monument at Shiloh. The men of the 6th Mississippi sustained roughly 70% of their casualties as they charged across Rhea Field. These troops came under fire from both the 53rd Ohio and 1st Illinois Light Artillery.
