Destiny's Trace

Along this historic trace of the former Richmond-Lynchburg Stage Road, General Ulysses S. Grant rode into the village on April 9, 1865 to meet with General Robert E. Lee. After making the trip to the front, it was near this very location that Grant was informed of Lee's presence in the McLean House just up ahead.
