Last Shots
Description
From positions in front of the Peers House, guns from the Army of Northern Virginia fired some of the last shots of the war in the Eastern Theater on the morning of April 9, 1865. Shortly after these events and all of the hardships they had been through, Generals Lee and Grant met nearby in the McLean House parlor to discuss the terms of surrender and the ending of hostilities between the forces of these two great armies.
