Marye's Heights Guns

Description

Positioned along the crest of Marye's Heights, Alexander's Confederate guns gave General Longstreet's lines some dominant support as the Union regiments advanced toward this position on December 13, 1862. Before one such attack, it appeared to Federal officers that some guns were pulling back off the ridge. This further motivated General Andrew A. Humphreys to lead his Fifth Corps division forward. With predictable results, this proved to be one of the last charges against this position that day.
