Chatham Overlook

Description

An overlook of Fredericksburg and the Rappahannock River from the grounds of Chatham. On December 11, 1862, Union guns positioned around here and on Stafford Heights shelled the river bank and other structures in town in an attempt to drive out Southern resistance before pontoon bridges could be completed.
