Remembrance Day Illumination

A luminary candle is placed on all 3,512 Civil War soldiers’ graves in Gettysburg National Cemetery. The fallen soldiers’ names are read throughout the evening. This commemorative event takes place every year around the anniversary of President Abraham Lincoln's Gettysburg Address. The famous speech was given nearby on November 19, 1863.
